About
BASECOL was built by and for the scientific community. Its main goal is to bring published collisional rate coefficients together in a single, freely accessible place, making it easier to find, cite, and use the data needed to model the interstellar medium, circumstellar envelopes, and cometary atmospheres. Created in 2002 by Prof. Marie-Lise Dubernet at the Observatoire de Besançon and further developed at the Observatoire de Paris, it has spent over two decades growing into a key reference resource for researchers in the field. This new version of the database is hosted at the Universidad de Chile under the scientific leadership of Dr. Otoniel Denis-Alpizar, marking a new stage in the development of BASECOL while maintaining its integration within the Virtual Atomic and Molecular Data Centre (VAMDC) and its commitment to open and interoperable access for the community.
